Allow me to paint a picture….
Morning. About 9:30am. The warm sun peering through the semi-open curtains and blinds. I’m washing the dishes before my wife gets back from our son’s appointment while our daughter noisily eats peaches and cream oatmeal (she “nom, nom, noms” with every bite) and Echos of the 20s, 30s, and 40s plays in the background.
This is my summer life.
I’m a teacher by trade. I decided to pursue a career in teaching years ago and have loved most of it. Most of my year is packed with lesson plans, Masters classes, parent phone calls, runny noses, unnecessary drama, and sculpting the future. For a few short, sweet, succulent months I get to do what I want to do.
This morning I remembered that come fall, my morning routine of waking to my daughter yelling for daddy will be replaced with a preprogrammed ringtone alarm and an early morning commute. I think it’s time for a new plan.
One with an endless summer…
