In This Episode You’ll Learn:
- The importance of staying true to who you are
- How to overcome life’s biggest challenges
- Why changing your mindset can change your life
Stay True To Who You Are
Steve never likes to introduce himself as anything other than just a normal guy, but he has been on an inspiring personal journey for quite some time. He has made it through his own substance abuse, dysfunctional relationships and prison to now being a successful father, business owner and actor.
Steve knows the importance of remaining true to yourself. When working on a project, he believes the best way forward is to take ownership of what you are doing and remain relatable to your clients.
Violence Isn’t Productive
You can overcome your addictions and make a better life for yourself. Steve has touched the lives of many with the work he has done. Through writing his book, Get Out Alive, he hopes to inspire many more to transform positively their lives, too.
Approachability goes a long way. Steve explains that he remains available and open to communication with anyone seeking help or feeling hopeless. Use your words, be civil and make changes when needed.
“Violence and anger [are] never the answer.”
Making A Fundamental Change
Hitting rock bottom can be an incredibly life-altering moment. It wasn’t until Steve was in prison after being involved with gangs and narcotics that he realized he needed to make a change. He decided to get clean and get out.
“If you really want that change in your life, then you have to dig deeper than you have for anything else and you can’t rely on anybody. You have to do it on your own merits.”
You have to be willing to change your mindset and change your habits if you want to reach a goal. If you don’t, Steve says you run the risk of failure.
Actions Speak Louder Than Words
Be supportive but not enabling. It is important to do your due diligence and truly understand someone’s intentions before jumping on board. If someone wants something badly enough, they will make it happen.
“Making people own their own business is key.”
Get involved in your community. Love people for who they are. Work on yourself and help others.
